Boumalne Dades Morocco

Boumalne Dades is a town in Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco. According to the 2014 census, it had a population of 12,328. Located on the edge of a desert plateau, at the mouth of the upper Dadès Valley (over 1,500 metres in elevation), Boumalne Dades grew from an old transhumance route controlled by the Aït Atta Tribe of Jbel Saghro and used as well by the neighbouring tribes of Mgouna, Aït Sedrate, Aït Hdiddou and Aït Marghad, moving between summer pastures in the High Atlas and winter pastures in Saghro. Most of its residents, like those of the Dadès Valley, are Berber people.
